FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH CHILDREN'S MINISTRY BEHAVIOR POLICY

In order to provide a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for all children, we ask that both children and parents review and adhere to the following behavior expectations.

Behavior Expectations:

Respect others - Children should treat teachers, leaders and peers with kindness, respect and patience.
Listen and follow directions - Children are expected to listen when leaders are speaking and follow instructions promptly.
Stay in designated areas - Children must remain in the assigned rooms or areas unless given permission by a leader.
Use appropriate language and actions - Keep your hands and feet to yourself. No hitting, pushing, yelling, name-calling, or inappropriate language or behavior will be tolerated.
Take care of church property - Children are expected to treat all church property and materials with care.

Corrective Actions:

We believe in positive reinforcement and redirection. If behavior begins to disrupt the class or is unsafe, we will follow the following steps:

First Offense
- Give a warning.
Second Offense - Remind the child of the rules and explain why the behavior is unacceptable and the consequences. Then describe the correct way to behave.
Third Offense - The Children’s Ministry Director will come and reiterate the rules to the student.
Fourth Offense - The child will be removed from the classroom and taken to the Children’s Ministry Director, who will contact the parents.

Aggressive Behavior:

Biting, hitting, pushing, scratching, pulling, or punching are considered aggressive behaviors and will be addressed immediately. If a child displays any of these behaviors, he or she will be removed from the class and the parents will be notified by the Children’s Ministry Director.

If we need to contact you, we'll talk through a plan together, go over any needed consequences, and may set up a meeting with you and our Children’s Ministry Director to support your child.

Parent Acknowledgment
I have read and understand the behavior expectations for my child while participating in church activities. By submitting this registration form, I agree to support the leaders in helping my child follow these guidelines.
